‘Who you gonna call?’

Don Wallis

YOU HAVE A PERFECTLY FINE ROOM in your house that, inexplicably, no one spends any time in. The place collects dust.

You are determined to change that. You get a couch, and you ask a family member to join you for an afternoon break. You observe that jokes don’t land there; your thoughts about life fall on deaf ears. Your invited company wanders off and goes to another part of the house. Your kid and dogs will not come in.

You re-stage the furniture; you bring some favorites from other rooms, you play with lighting, yes, you paint it. You do all that, and you place yourself, in the late afternoon, with warm cookies. No one joins you. Your dogs come in to accept their treat but quickly walk away.

We are all veterans on places that work, places that don’t. Vibes, energy, ghosts? Whatever it is, something is not right. That’s a good reason to talk to Don. Who clears the house.

How do you explain what you do?

I work with the energy in places and objects and the energy that people bring where they are; the energy of other entities, of the other beings that are there, from other people who have been there, other spirits, other beings that have been there, other experiences like tragedy.

We live our everyday life in the physical world; the energetic world encompasses that – everything is energy, energy, even the things we think are solid. I interact with those energies and I ask the energies that do not belong there to leave.

Do not belong there?

They’re unhealthy for the people that live there. In most cases, these energies themselves – you call them spirits or beings or whatever – do not want to belong there. They’re trapped, and they would like to move on to the highest and best place for their evolution into the light. So I create a way so that they can move on.

The best way I can explain it is that there is an energetic component to existence. Every action you do has an energetic component. And those energetic components linger even when a person leaves or when an experience is over. A lot of people that I work with appreciate this inner light, this energetic level of existence, which is actually a more refined level of existence than the physical level of existence. Depending on people’s awareness of this, they are able to feel that. It’s there.

How did you figure out that you can do this work?

All my life, I’ve had abilities, or sensitivities. I was aware of them and thought everybody else had them. I could walk into a room or down the street, and what people were feeling would just bombard me. For the longest time, I just wanted to get rid of it. I didn’t want it. I was relatively young when I realized that not everybody had the same experiences. I wanted to push it away. And so I tried. But I couldn’t push it away. I had to embrace it, accept it. Then I took a course with an extraordinary medical healer. She explained to me how these energies work. She made me aware that what I was experiencing was real, that there wasn’t something wrong with me.

You went to law school, you had a construction career, so you could still function.

Every night of my life, I can put it aside. But every night of my life I do what I call traveling. I’m an orphan in all these other dimensions. I keep my focus on this dimension during the daytime, but when I let go, I experience my parallel lives and in other dimensions. Now what I do is clearing work. I allow myself to open up to it.

Can you give recent examples of what you do for people?

The bread-and-butter clearings: people have a lot of accumulated grayness in their house that needs to be cleared out so they’re more at peace and can function better. I do that. I’ve had people who have had significant illnesses either with themselves or with family members. These energies are lingering there. I clear out the energy. I’m not a healer of people. I clear the energy around them and clear their energetic field.

The most energy – positive or negative – is collected in people’s beds, in their mattress. You lie down at night, and you relax; it sloughs off. All of the person goes into their mattress. That’s a place I’ve put special emphasis on.

Do you frequently tell people to get rid of their mattresses?

I’ve never told anybody that. I just take care of it.

It can be fabric, couches; everything collects more of a person’s energy than hard surfaces. Now floors, their surface collects a lot of energy because we’re walking on them. It flows through your feet to surfaces where people touch.

When I clear a house, I start at the outside; I clear the exterior, surface cladding, etc. And then I clear the insulation and the framing. Then I work my way into all the components of the house. They all have different energies. If you address them individually, as opposed to just going in and address the whole house as a totality, you do a much better job. You clear out more.

Once I’ve cleared out the energies of the house itself, I start working on the related energies: the energies of the people who build it, the energies of the people who have been there, the energies of people who live there, the energies of former owners. Then I focus on a different level of energy that affects people – the energies that they have related to their ancestors, the energies of the primordial spirits of the land.

And then people always have a number of things they tell me that are bothering them. I address the energies of that. I’m not a psychiatrist or anything; I don’t offer them advice on how to deal with things. I do sometimes, but that’s not really the main thrust of what I do.

In all these different levels, I work through the primordial energies of the earth to the specific energies of the people themselves, the specific energies created by what people are living through. I keep saying, I clear, what I do is ask that these things be cleared. I ask the Great Light Beings of our part of the cosmos that they be cleared. Avatars, Archangels. I ask them and they do.

What do these energies look like?

I can see the energy that’s surrounding you. I see through my inner eye, mostly, as opposed to the actual energy. In real time, I see people’s auras. I can perceive how much light that energy has, how much darkness, based on colors. I can feel and see with my inner eye – pain, suffering, and joy.

These energies are sentient. I can communicate with them. When I clear something, I use love. I don’t take some energy, grab it by the shirt collar, and kick it out. I ask it to leave.

Do you think that children are more likely to be attuned to this?

Children are more open to everything. As they grow older, they realize through peer pressure or whatever that they need to conform. Everything in education, at least the education system I grew up with, emphasized rational thought. There was no appreciation for intuitive intelligence at all. And yet that’s a very, very strong component of someone who is completely emotionally balanced.

In the context of all of this, how do you feel about Santa Fe as a place?

Santa Fe is more conducive for the primordial energies of the earth to come through since there aren’t as many people around. Also, Native American energies are strong within the earth. Their positive energies, they’re very helpful to the whole area. But also, of course, the way Native Americans have been treated is appalling. And that energy is collected there. A lot of times, when I clear houses, I interact with the Native American Earth energies, or the Native American spirits of individuals who have met unfortunate ends in these places. That’s percolating there. But the underlying energy, in spite of that, is positive.

It’s not a perfect place. We have the capital here, and that energy surrounding the politics and the politicians is not always the best. Santa Fe has its affairs. I have found that more so than any place else I’ve ever lived. It’s the collective energy of the people, amplified and supported by the underlying positive energy that makes it special, full of light.
